BALLER MOVE: Add in 2-QB Leagues
OWNED IN: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Week 1 didn't go well for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who saw their starting quarterback Nick Foles leave the game early with a broken collarbone and land on the injured reserve. That'll put the most important position in football in the hands of sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew.
Minshew's NFL debut was impressive, though. The rookie was 22-for-25 for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. After playing most of Jacksonville's preseason snaps and not throwing a single touchdown, the idea of Minshew playing serious regular season snaps had to terrify Jaguars fans, but they're probably feeling better after how well Minshew looked.
Don't expect big things from Minshew, but there are worst options for you to have as a third quarterback in 2-QB leagues, especially in deeper ones where there aren't any other starters sitting out there on the waiver wire. Minshew has some good weapons that should ease his transition into the NFL. Dede Westbrook is going to be a very solid slot option over the middle, Leonard Fournette can provide a good dump-off option, and D.J. Chark showed on Sunday that he can stretch the field for this team.
If you need someone with decent upside in a 2-QB league, give Minshew a look. You can never have too many quarterbacks in that format, right?
