Garrett Cooper (1B/OF, MIA) - Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 35% of Yahoo! leagues

ANALYSIS:

It doesn’t look like Garrett Cooper intends to slow down anytime soon. What once looked like a fluky hot streak, has turned into what may have been Cooper turning the corner. Over just hit last seven games, Cooper has accounted for 10 hits and four home runs. His wOBA is now over .350 against both lefties and righties and he’s hitting the ball hard 43% of the time. If you want to find a negative or two, his BABIP is at .388 and his home ballpark is Marlins Park. While his BABIP has been over .350 consistently through the minors, you have to think that will drop eventually.

Still, Garrett Cooper should be owned in all leagues. He’s keeping this Marlins offense afloat nearly by himself and has been effective against both righties and lefties. The power numbers aren’t crazy, but he’s getting on base consistently and does have four bombs in the last seven. The Marlins will go into Los Angeles and Chicago for the next six games, with four of those coming against weaker pitchers. Cooper is an easy add in 65% of the league’s he’s available in.
