Garrett Temple (SG/SF, MEM) - Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 12-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 24% of leagues

ANALYSIS: At the age of 32 and now 35 games into his tenth NBA season, Garrett Temple has seen the most prominent on-court role of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies. His 31.8 minutes per game rank third on the roster behind Grizz-greats Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, and he has been a part of the starting lineup in all 35 games he has played in so far, which has also only been done by Conley and Gasol (with Kyle Anderson and Jaren Jackson Jr. rounding out the rest of the usual starters). In that high amount of floor-time; Temple has produced a well-rounded stat line of 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per contest. In addition to his versatile production and solid defense, Temple has been one of the most efficient shooters on the team, especially from downtown.

His free throw percentage of 79.7% is third-best for Memphis behind Conley and Yuta Watanabe (who has played just 16 total minutes), while he is sinking 1.6 three-pointers per game out of 4.3 attempts for a conversion rate of 38.3%, which also ranks third for the Grizzlies behind sharp-shooters Dillon Brooks and Shelvin Mack. Not only that but his true shooting percentage of .590 ranks fourth on the squad behind Omri Casspi, Ivan Rabb, and Jackson, while his effective field goal percentage of 55.9% is third-best for Memphis (also trailing Casspi and Rabb). His total points and rebounds that he accumulates on a nightly basis don't exactly pop off of the page, but his ability to generate steals adds an extra dash of value, while his ability to score at a highly efficient clip across a solid volume of minutes for the Grizzlies as a staple of the starting five adds an extra element of consistency and safety to Garrett Temple as an asset for fantasy basketball managers. Though he shares the floor with a slew of skilled guards and forwards, Temple has plenty to contribute in more than a half-hour of playing time per outing.
