George Springer hasn’t played more than 102 games in each of his first two seasons yet everyone is still talking about him. Rightfully so. Springer entered the bigs in 2014 and hit 20 dingers and drove in 51 runs in only 78 appearances. In 2015, despite a slight dip in production mainly in part to a midseason wrist injury, Springer improved his average, hits, runs, stolen bases, and walks totals significantly in just 24 more games played than the year prior. This all makes me wonder what could be in store for the young outfield if he punches in and punches out for at least 140-150 games in 2016.
First of all, it can’t hurt batting in between Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa in the lineup. The two talented stars will provide Springer with plenty of protection and make it extremely difficult to pitch around him. Springer also has potential to not only breach the 20/20 mark but flirt with a 30/30 campaign as well. The key to all this, as for so many others, is staying healthy. Right now nothing indicates that he isn’t, solidifying his spot in the RotoBaller’s top ten fantasy outfielders.
