Giovani Bernard (RB, CIN) - Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: If you missed out on getting my favorite backup of Spencer Ware this week, don’t be too disappointed. Giovani Bernard has returned to practice and will likely return to action in Week 10 as the Bengals take on the Saints. Unfortunately for Bengals fans (and A.J. Green owners), it looks like Green could be sidelined for several weeks. The immediate person owners will look to is Tyler Boyd. A couple of the overlooked assets that will see a nice bump in fantasy production are C.J. Uzomah and Bernard.

Bernard hasn’t quite been the PPR stud that he’s been in recent years, but he’s been valuable nonetheless. While second-year running back Joe Mixon has taken over the backfield and broken out, Bernard has stepped in when Mixon missed time, reminding us what he’s capabale of. I don’t expect Bernard to be a must-Start option moving forward, but he is definitely worth a Flex spot in PPR leagues. God forbid something would happen to Mixon, and Bernard would immediately jump in as a borderline RB1. These are the types of pickups that can be huge for your fantasy team during your playoff run. While I do prefer Ware to Bernard if he’s still available, be sure to stash him on your bench where you can whether you’re a Mixon owner or not.
