The reliever received an injection on Wednesday for a neck issue that has been bothering him for nearly two months. Perkins plans to play catch on Thursday or Friday since he feels a lot better.

The left-hander hasn’t pitched since he suffered the loss against the New York Yankees on Monday. Luckily for the Twins, they won’t be without their closer for too long. Perkins has made three straight All-Star teams and has 31 saves this season.
Minnesota will need him because it trails for the second Wild Card spot in the American League by three games. Throughout the last three seasons, Perkins had ERAs of 2.30, 3.65 and 2.66. with a combined 101 saves.
Kevin Jepsen will likely be removed as the closer once Perkins is ready to return.
