Good Sam 500: Daily Fantasy NASCAR DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks

It was Brad Keselowski picking up the win at Las Vegas last weekend as he passed Kyle Busch with six laps remaining. Not only did the drivers have to deal with the new rules package, they also had to deal with high winds and a sand storm which popped up halfway through race. After the first three races of the season the feed back has been positive for the new rules package for both fans and drivers. It is a terrific sign for NASCAR as we move forward into the future.

This week the drivers head to Phoenix International Speedway for the Good Sam 500. The track is a one mile Tri Oval short track with 9°-11° banking the corners. One thing that you should know if you are a casual fan is that Kevin Harvick pretty much owns this track. He has won four of the last five races here and finished 2nd in a rain shortened race last fall.

Qualifying and practice sessions are now over and there are some things to note. First of all, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, and Clint Bowyer will be starting from the back. Bowyer has had a tough time so far in 2016 and should be avoided until he proves he can find speed and finish in the top 20. As for Kahne and Johnson, they both make terrific value plays with upside for place differential points. Kyle Busch won the pole with teammate Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin right behind. Joe Gibbs Racing has adjusted nicely to the new rules package and should prove to be a force again this week. Another team to look out for will be Penske racing. Logano finished To 10 in all three practices and will start 9th while Keselowski had a poor qualifying run and will be starting 21st presenting some value for place differential.

Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS  Lineup Picks

Kevin Harvick - $10,800

Harvick has dominated Phoenix in recent years with four wins and a runner up in the last five races at this track. He has lead 925 laps in that time which is almost 800 more than any other driver in that time. He had a poor qualifying effort and will start 18th on Sunday. The #4 team found speed in final practice as they ranked 2nd and 1st in the two final practices on Saturday. He is the one driver you do not want to fade this week.

Kurt Busch - $9,600

It has been a terrific start to the 2016 season for Kurt Busch and the #41 Stewart Haas team. Kurt has finished each of the first three races inside the Top 10 and now comes back to a track where he has had success. In the last five races here at Phoenix he has two Top 5's, four Top 10's and a 12.6 average finish. he will be starting 4th for the race on Sunday and has shown tremendous speed throughout the weekend leading up to the race. He was fastest in both the 1st and 2nd practices and 2nd in final practice.

Kasey Kahne - $8,400

He makes a great pivot off Dale Jr. this week in the same price range. Kahne has some decent track history here with two Top 5 finishes and a 12.8 average finish in the past five races and has a pretty good start to the year after a horrid 2015 season. He struggled on Friday ranked 2nd in first practice and will qualified 24th for the race on Sunday. The #5 team found some speed on Saturday as the ranked 7th and 6th in the final two practices and Kahne had the top 10 lap average in final practice. A great GPp play at a possible low ownership.

Austin Dillon - $6,800

He will carry the momentum of his terrific start to the season over to Phoenix this weekend. After a 9th place finish at the Dayonta 500, he followed it up with an 11th at Atlanta and a 5th place finish last weekend at Las Vegas. He will be starting 15th on Sunday and finished up final practice ranked 5th and had the 10th fastest 10 lap average. He will have a terrific shot at capturing his first top 10 at Phoenix.

Ty Dillon - $5,400

At minimum price the younger Dillon brother will be a great value play for stars and scrubs lineups on Sunday. He is filling in for the injured Tony Stewart in the #14 Chevrolet and will get his second crack at Phoenix International Speedway. He is starting 28th and showed some speed in final practices which is a good sign for Sunday's race. If he can stay our of trouble fro 500 miles there is a great chance he finishes inside the Top 25 and pays off for fantasy owners.
