ANALYSIS: Even with Ja Morant making his way back into the lineup, there still appears to be plenty of room in the rotation for Grayson Allen to make a meaningful contribution. So far this season, Allen has averaged 7.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in 21.1 minutes through 11 games; and last night, he put up 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in 26.0 minutes. While his three-point success rate has dropped to 35.6%, his volume has still produced 1.5 threes per game, and Allen has been a dead-eye 90% from the free-throw line.
Even with his shooting efficiency taking a slight dip, he has made himself valuable in other ways, netting a steal percentage of 2.3% (more than twice his previous career-high), and that converts into a handy stat line with Allen seeing the floor more often as he develops and improves. This is a young Grizzles squad that has had to share the workload across the bench. Ja Morant will obviously command a considerable amount of the offense, but now that Grayson Allen is making a stronger defensive contribution, he is now a practical option with scoring upside in deeper leagues.
