Didi Gregorius had a career-game on Friday when the shortstop drove in six RBI en route to the New York Yankees 15-4 blowout victory over the Atlanta Braves.
The Yankees replacement to Derek Jeter hit his second homer in as many days. Gregorius hit a three-run dinger while also driving in three more runs on a 4-for-5 day. He also drove in two runs on Thursday.
It was the second four-hit game of the season for the 25-year-old. After a bad start, Gregorius has turned around his season with some great play of late. For the year, he has a .260/.306/.355 batting line with 7 HR and 40 RBI.
Jeter finished his final season with the Yankees in 2014 with a .256 BA, 4 HR and 50 RBI over 145 games. At the very least, Gregorius has been able to fill the void by replicating late-career Jeter while providing quality defense.
