Cole Hamels scheduled start for Sunday has been moved to Monday, which will give him an extra day's rest after taking a comebacker to his shoulder on Tuesday.
Despite being drilled in the shoulder and suffering a bone bruise, Hamels was able to get the win against the Seattle Mariners in his last start. The left-hander pitched seven innings while allowing four runs. His next start will be against the Houston Astros in what will be a huge series for the AL West crown.

The Astros maintain a two-game lead over Texas before Thursday’s games. Hamels will open the big four-game series at home against the Astros. In the meantime, Chi Chi Gonzalez will get the start in place of Hamels on Sunday against the Oakland A’s.
It’s been almost a month since Gonzalez has pitched for the Rangers. In his last start on August 18, he allowed three runs over six innings for the loss. He’s had his ups and downs this season but makes for a great spot-start for a Rangers team that owns the second AL Wild Card spot.
