Josh Hamilton is taking batting practice, according to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram as he fights back from a knee injury.
The Texas Rangers outfielder took batting practice on Friday. It still could be a little while before Hamilton returns, but he could also be activated from the DL on Monday. The Rangers could wait until Tuesday because the rosters expand to 40 players. He could also continue to rehab beyond either date.
Josh Hamilton taking batting practice on field now. Getting closer. Can be activated Monday. Tuesday is Sept. 1, so could be then. #Rangers

Hamilton hasn’t played since Aug. 15. The former AL MVP and five-time All-Star has had a strange season. He began the year with the Angels but was traded back to where he made all his All-Star appearances prior to the start of the season. In 38 games with the Rangers this year, the lefty has a .254 BA with 6 HR and 21 RBI.
The Rangers have been doing great without him. They’ve climbed to the second AL Wild Card spot with a half a game lead and also trail the Houston Astros by four games for first place in the West.
