Bryce Harper will be in the Washington Nationals starting lineup on Monday despite leaving Sunday’s game because of a collision with another player.
The All-Star outfielder passed all the necessary concussion tests and will be back in his usual spot in right field while batting third against the Philadelphia Phillies. Harper left Sunday’s game early after he collided with Derek Dietrich but he also appeared to tweak his hip. Apparently it’s ok enough for him to play for a team that can’t afford to lose anymore.
The potential NL MVP has a .333 BA with 36 HR and 85 RBI this season. Harper is by far the best player on the second-place Nationals. They currently trail the New York Mets by 9 1/2 games with 20 games to go. It’s going to take a miracle for the Nats to win the division and get into the postseason. If they want it to happen, they’ll need Harper in the lineup producing like he has all season.
