Bryce Harper hit his MLB-leading 19th home run on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.
The 22-year-old is riding the hottest streak of his career which has seemingly lasted all season. Harper went 2-for-4 on Saturday and his homer came in the ninth inning, which kept the Washington Nationals in the game until Pedro Strop came in for the save in the 4-2 victory.
The outfielder is 14 for his last 39 at-bats. He is arbitration eligible next season and he’s playing as if he wants to get paid the big bucks.
It had been nearly 10 days, since May 27th, that Harper hit his last homer, but he's still leading all MLB. It has been a breakout season for Harper as he has finally lived up to the massive hype that surrounded him as a first overall draft pick. His batting line reads .333/.472/.721. He’s also tied for the MLB-lead in RBI (46).
