The more likely a team is to win, the more likely a pitcher will be eligible to earn the holds that could be the difference between winning or losing in your fantasy league.

Week 1 Waiver Wire Pickups for Holds
Jim Henderson, New York Mets
1 Hold, 1.0 IP, 2 K, 0.00 WHIP
The 33-year-old has made it back to the big stage. Once a Brewer, Jim Henderson is a middle reliever for the New York Mets and looks to be as effective as he was in his Milwaukee days. Once a closer near 30 saves, Henderson appears to be excited for a comeback, exceeding 95 MPH on his fastball. Early in the season, he could cement his role as a hold leader for the defending National League champs.
Miguel Castro, Colorado Rockies
1 Hold, 1.1 IP, 2 BB, 3 K, 2.25 WHIP
The Rockies have rarely had reliable pitching, but this year features a number of veteran arms. Newly acquired 20-year-old Miguel Castro can be the best pitcher in the Rockies' bullpen for this year and years to follow. Relying on a slider-fastball combination that features a 14 MPH difference, Castro has the stuff to notch holds for now and saves in the future. In picking up Castro, beware his command as he will walk his fair share of batters.
Seung-hwan Oh, St. Louis Cardinals
2.0 IP, 2 BB, 5 K, 1.00 WHIP
The Korean veteran Seung-Hwan Oh has made two appearances in the first week of the season and they have both been impressive. Oh has struck out five of the eight batters he's faced, primarily relying on his low-90s fastball and mid-80s slider. Look for Oh to continue this strong performance and pitch in higher leverage situations, notching holds in the process. The Final Boss likely will not unseat Trevor Rosenthal as the club's closer. Still, Oh has shown he can be a reliable reliever that the Cardinals will count on in important spots over the course of the long year.
Neftali Feliz, Pittsburgh Pirates
1 Hold, 2 IP, 2 K, 0.00 WHIP
After brief stints as closer in Texas and Detroit last season, reliever Neftali Feliz looks to have found a great home with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rebounding from a down year in 2015, Feliz seems to be an important part of the back end of the bullpen with Jared Hughes on the DL. However, if Feliz continues to be effective, I do not see Hughes reclaiming his spot in the depth chart with the Pirates. Abandoning the changeup and relying on his fastball and slider, Feliz has found success again. The Pirates will be competing for the division all season long, giving Feliz plenty of opportunities to earn a good deal of Holds.
Ryan Madson, Oakland Athletics
1 Save, 2.0 IP, 1 K, 0.50 WHIP
After a great return to the Major League level with the Royals, Ryan Madson got a multi-year deal for his services from the Oakland Athletics. While Madson did have a save in his second appearance of the season, do not expect that to be a common occurrence for the 35-year-old. Incumbent closer Sean Doolittle has not done anything to jeopardize his role. With that said, Madson looks to be as effective this year as he was in 2015. The pairing of his fastball and changeup is what found him success in the past and will continue bringing him success as a setup reliever. Expect Madson to receive save opportunities sparingly but accumulate holds when the A's are leading.
