Let me first and foremost welcome you to our RotoBaller premium family and thank you for purchasing one of our premium products! Whether you're here for our award-winning season-long fantasy analysis or our top-notch DFS and sports betting content, we want you to be able to utilize our product to the fullest extent possible. I put together this little informative piece in order to try to help you get the most out of our premium slack chat, which I believe is one of the biggest perks of your subscription!
My name is "Thunder Dan" Palyo and I do a little of everything here at RotoBaller. But one of my most important jobs on a daily basis is being the administrator of our RotoBaller Premium Slack Chat community. I play DFS every day across multiple different sports and have been doing more sports betting than ever the last year or so. I enjoy talking strategy and picks with our staff and members in the various channels. Being in the fantasy sports industry for several years now, one thing that I have noticed is that successful DFS players and bettors usually have a community that they rely upon for help.
My day job is being a high school social studies teacher and in education, there is a saying that "it takes a village to raise a child." And while none of you are children, I do think that the same principle applies to the fantasy community because the competition in DFS and fantasy is getting stronger every year. It's extremely hard to find an edge at times even with the best statistics and tools when you're going it alone. Being able to bounce ideas off other fantasy players and our experienced staff is going to give you the confidence you need when building lineups and making roster decisions.
My goal is to build a community where our members can interact with each other and our staff in a way that is beneficial all. Our slack community is only a few months old, but the positivity and encouragement already are pervasive in our slack environment. When someone wins big, we all win. We tilt together and cuss out the athletes who did us dirty on any given slate. We want to make this a place where writers and analysts can go beyond their article analysis with members and a place where experienced DFS players and bettors can help less-experienced players.
Here are some tips on how to get the most of your RotoBaller slack experience.
- You can access our premium content dashboard here and easily navigate to find the sport and type of content you desire. Every article that we publish (free or premium) also gets automatically posted to the #RotoBallerTwitter channel.
- Take some time to familiarize yourself with all the channels. You should be automatically added to all existing channels. You can always remove yourself from channels that you won't use if you're looking to reduce the number of channels that you have to monitor.
- Everyone has the ability to use the @channel tag that will send a notification to everyone in that channel. We ask that you use this ability sparingly and keep in mind that other members have their notifications turned on. Keep in mind that we have members in multiple time zones across the globe. You'll often see staff members use the @channel the most often to make important announcements in channels.
- I would encourage everyone to ask questions if you have them. There are no dumb questions (unless you are just trolling, which you shouldn't do - please) and you'll find that staff and experienced members are usually happy to answer questions and offer their advice when asked.
- Posting DFS lineups for advice is something that happens quite often. If someone else posts a lineup that you like or that you were also going to run, then consider checking with them to make sure you're not in the same contest. Just taking someone else's lineup without having a conversation with them first is highly frowned upon.
- We have a lot of live chats with our RotoBaller experts that are scheduled before major DFS slates and we will have some for season-long NFL and MLB, too. This is a chance to chat with one of our writers/analysts and I'd highly recommend taking advantage of that opportunity. Usually, a staff member will make an announcement in the channel that the chat will take place in earlier in the day so you can plan to be there if you wish.
- We are all huge sports fans and we all have our favorite players, teams, and fantasy sports strategies. There are going to be times when we disagree on who the best play is on a given night or which team is the best bet to win. However, it's really important to keep things lighthearted and fun and not let things escalate to where they get out of control. We always want to keep things positive and if you sense that things are getting heated it's best to walk away or log off.
I would encourage anyone to contact me in the slack @ThunderDan or on Twitter @ThunderDanDFS if you need help and I would be happy to help you out with any aspect of our RotoBaller tools, optimizers, or content - or if you just have any general questions about slack. Don't hesitate to seek out the help of other members, I think you'll find they will be more than willing to help you whenever possible. Good luck, RotoBallers, and let's continue to #WinBig!
