Phil Hughes has been scratched from his start on Monday against the Cleveland Indians because of an illness.
The Minnesota Twins starting pitcher was hoping to follow up on his best start in a while but instead, he’ll have to get over a sickness that has been going around the locker room. Hughes didn’t allow a run over five innings against the Indians in what was his last start five days ago.
Phil Hughes is out with illness. Just like Trevor Plouffe was yesterday.

The 29-year-old was used out of the bullpen but was hoping to become a regular in the rotation again. Hughes is 11-9 with a 4.43 ERA this season. He’s had his ups and downs but will have to sit out and possibly not be back out there on the mound for the rest of the season.
A struggling Tommy Milone will replace Hughes. Milone has also had his ups and downs this season. The left-hander owns a 4.08 ERA but has also been used as a starter and out of the bullpen.
