BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 31% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Renfroe has had a rocky start to the 2017 season, leaving may fantasy owners pondering his value moving forward. He posted a disappointing .623 OPS in April, but he was able to bump that up to .869 in May. This type of inconsistent performance can be expected given Renfroe’s profile, and for fantasy owners who are starving for power, he is a player to consider picking up and holding through his slumps.
To no one’s surprise, Renfroe has been unable to maintain the 13% strikeout rate he posted during his cup of coffee in the major leagues last season. Instead, it has jumped up to 28%, leaving his average at a subpar .230. The power indicators are there however, as Renfroe has hit a flyball 44% of the time this season and has pulled the ball 51.4% of the time. His 34.3% hard contact rate, while well above average, indicates he is not yet an elite power threat, but the rest of his batted ball profile should help him maintain a usable baseline of power.
There is very little production in Renfroe’s profile other than power. However, for those in need of power in deep five-outfielder leagues, Renfroe is a good place to look for production just be prepared to endure some cold stretches.
