Hunter Renfroe (OF, SDP) - Week 26 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 35% of leagues

ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres outfielder Hunter Renfroe should be bought for his power, but he also has a hit in four of the last five gamesl. Roping a double and two home runs this week, Renfroe has a .221/.254/.559 slash line this month. Renfroe has continued his power surge this month as well, clubbing seven home runs in September.

Since the All-Star break, Renfroe has a .558 slugging percentage, posting nine doubles and 17 home runs, and has also driven in 40 runs. A .286 OBP is not good, as Renfroe still has a 4.2% walk rate in the second half, but a boost in batting average to .256 in the second half shows that he can contribute in more than just power stats. A 41.5% hard hit ball rate in the second half has led to his successes, as has his 18.5% line drive rate and 44.2% fly ball rate.

Buying Renfroe is buying power in the absence of plate discipline, but fantasy owners may be interested in that for the stretch run. Renfroe's power is useful in deeper leagues and he has shown enough with his average to merit additions in shallow leagues as well.
