Ike Davis (1B, PIT) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Ignore In All But Deepest Mixed and NL-Only Leagues

ANALYSIS: The Ike Davis that hit 32 round-trippers in 2012 has ceased to exist ever since. With only 16 homers in 580 at-bats since his breakout 2012 campaign, Davis has cemented himself as a platoon hitter with no real fantasy value in all but the absolute deepest of leagues. He is utterly incapable of touching lefties, and is nothing more than solid against righties. The left-handed power hitter is batting a whopping .103 with runners in scoring position and two outs, and while he is enjoying a career-low 17.7% strikeout rate, his 9.1% home run to fly ball ratio is by far the worst of his career, down from 21.1% in 2012. To be fair, since being traded to the Pirates in April, Davis has to play in the least longball-friendly stadium in the MLB in PNC Park, but his power potential doesn't change the fact that he will continue to watch his fly balls drop at the warning track as long as he is wearing a Pirates uniform. His lack of everyday at-bats and his highly unfavorable location in Pittsburgh make him a player to stay away from in all but the deepest of NL-Only leagues.
