Nick Swisher will make his 2015 debut on Tuesday for the Cleveland Indians after being activated from the DL. He will start at DH and bat sixth for the Tribe against the Kansas City Royals, according to Cleveland.com.
After missing the first month of the season while rehabbing duel knee surgeries, the 34-year-old hopes to bounce back from what was his worst season in his career. Swisher had a batting line of .208/.278/.331 with eight homers and 42 RBI in 97 games. It was a season of injuries, and now healthy Swisher is ready to make a resurgence.
In six games with the Triple-A Clippers, Swisher collected nine hits in 24 at-bats (.375 average). He hit one home run with five RBI.
"I want to be here," Swisher told Cleveland.com last week. "I want to be here and be part of this team with these guys. The way things are going, maybe I can come in here and spark them a little bit and get these guys rolling back to where they know they can be."
Cleveland is off to a slow start this season, sporting a 9-15 record after falling just short of making the postseason last year.
Swisher is owed $15 million this season and $16 million for 2016. Outfielder Tyler Holt was designated to Triple-A Columbus.
