Is Devin Singletary The Starter? Is The Bills Backfield A Committee?

devin singletary fantasy football rankings NFL injury news DFS lineup picks

The offense of the Buffalo Bills is expected to be one of the best offensive units in the NFL again in 2022. While Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Gabriel Davis are the popular names in fantasy football for the Bills, what about Devin Singletary and the backfield in Buffalo?

The top three running backs on the depth chart for the Bills are Singletary, James Cook, and Zack Moss. At the end of last season, Singletary finished strong as the starter for Buffalo, but that didn't stop the Bills from taking Cook in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft.

Even though the Bills are a pass-heavy team, should we be looking at the backfield in Buffalo as an enticing one? Keep reading below to get an outlook on Singletary and the other two notable running backs on the reigning AFC East champions.

Is Devin Singletary the Starting RB for the Bills?

As previously mentioned, Singletary finished the 2021 season strong, totaling 396 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns in the final four games of the regular season. In the final four weeks of the regular season, the former third-round pick averaged 19.9 fantasy points per game, which was the fourth-most in the NFL in that span.

Even with Cook and Moss on the roster, Singletary is shaping up to begin the upcoming season as the starting rusher for the Bills. With Buffalo not playing their starters in their preseason finale, it was telling to see the Florida Atlantic product log all of the snaps with the starters in Week 2 of the preseason.

Will James Cook and Zack Moss Have Roles with the Bills in 2022?

The Bills didn't select Cook in the second round of this year's draft just for him to warm up the bench. The rookie out of Georgia showed impressive contact balance in Week 2 of the preseason and he figures to have a role in the passing game after posting 67 receptions in college.

Meanwhile, Moss has been seeing goal-line touches for the Bills in training camp and the preseason. The 24-year-old running back out of Utah has failed to show much potential in his first two seasons in the NFL, so he shouldn't be expected to have a large role in Buffalo this year.

It remains to be seen how the Bills choose to utilize all three of their running backs. But with the information we know and with how Buffalo has deployed them in the preseason, Singletary and Cook are the only two running backs that appear to have value in fantasy football this year.
