Is Jalen Reagor Worth Drafting In Fantasy Football After Being Traded to the Vikings?

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor was dealt to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2023 seventh-round pick as well as a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick. The former first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft finds a new home after struggling in the first two years of his career.

After A.J. Brown was traded to the Eagles, the writing was on the wall for Reagor, and he'll get a new start alongside Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn. Reagor was the 21st overall pick for a reason -- he is talented and posted over 2,000 receiving yards and 22 receiving touchdowns during his career at TCU.

However, should we be considering him in drafts just before the season begins? Let's dive into it.

Why Was Jalen Reagor Traded to the Minnesota Vikings?

As a rookie, Reagor posted just 31 receptions for 396 yards and one touchdown catching passes from Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts. The struggles were concerning, but a poor rookie year can happen, and he was given another chance in 2021.

Unfortunately, he again posted just 31 receptions, but for just 280 yards and two touchdowns and was beaten out by Quez Watkins and DeVonta Smith. Again, now that A.J. Brown is in town, there's no place for Reagor in the Eagles' offense.

Meanwhile, Minnesota gets a talented player for pennies on the dollar. We know Jefferson is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, but Thielen isn't getting any younger, and Osborn is unproven. After Bisi Johnson tore his ACL, the team obviously wasn't happy with its depth, and opted to trade for Reagor and cut Ihmir Smith-Marsette.

Is Jalen Reagor Worth Drafting in Fantasy Football?

Ultimately, Reagor is likely going to run into the same problem in Minnesota. He failed to flash in his first two years in the league, and those players usually don't go on to have productive careers. While Thielen might be past his prime, he's still a solid receiver with upside.

At best, Reagor is the WR3 for Kirk Cousins, but even that's not a guarantee. In shallow leagues, people weren't heavily drafting Osborn, so why would we start drafting Reagor?

In ultra-deep leagues and deep dynasty leagues, he could be worth a late-round flyer or waiver pick-up, but it's doubtful he'll be playable this season unless the Vikings' wide receiver room gets decimated by injuries. Pass on Reagor for now, but he's certainly worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues.
