New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was apparently dealing with a back injury in the Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins. His ailment could be an explanation for a lackluster offensive showing for New England, so this is worth monitoring moving forward.
Although Jones showed some flashes of upside in his rookie season, we know he's not a fantasy superstar thanks to a low-volume passing offense and lack of mobility. However, he'll be considered a solid streaming option when the matchup is favorable, and in deep leagues and Superflex or two-QB leagues, his status is important for fantasy football.
As always, stay tuned for further Jones updates as injury news can always change in a hurry.

Will Mac Jones Play In Week 2 of Fantasy Football?
All signs are trending positive for Jones, as he was reported dealing with back spasms in Week 1. Although back spasms are painful and can certainly affect how a player performs, it's not a serious injury that should keep him sidelined, and it's very treatable.
That said, the health of a quarterback's back is important for his throwing motion and power of his passes, so this could be a slight concern if he can't get the spasms under control. It's a weird injury to navigate and speculate on, so it's not worth doing.
For now, we shouldn't be too alarmed, and it's far from time to panic if you're depending on Jones in your fantasy deep league. The positive is Jones avoided serious injury.
Should I Start Mac Jones In Week 2 of Fantasy Football if Active?
Although Jones will likely be available against the Steelers, he's best served for the bench or waiver wire in traditional single-QB leagues. The Steelers' defense once again flexed its muscles in Week 1 against Joe Burrow, forcing five turnovers and racking up six sacks. Although T.J. Watt (chest) will be out for some time, the Steelers will still be as strong unit against quarterbacks.
Ultimately, Jones only has streamer appeal in some of the most favorable matchups, and especially since all the high-profile quarterbacks except Dak Prescott are available, this isn't the time to insert him in your lineup.
