Is Odell Beckham Jr. Worth Drafting In Fantasy Football?

odell beckham jr. fantasy football rankings NFL DFS lineup picks

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is currently a free agent. He tore the ACL in his left knee in the first half of Super Bowl LVI. If not for the injury, Beckham would be on an NFL roster.

The former 12th overall pick has a career full of highlight reel plays and elite fantasy production. Unfortunately, OBJ's career has also been full of injuries. He has torn the ACL in his left knee twice in his NFL career. Beckham also suffered a fractured left ankle in 2017, costing him 12 games that year.

While his injury history is quite extensive, Beckham has been one of the better fantasy wide receivers in the NFL when on the field. He has averaged 17 PPR fantasy points per game in his career. Furthermore, Beckham has averaged at least 12.4 fantasy points per game in seven of his eight years in the league.

Odell Beckham Jr.'s 2021 Season

Last season was Beckham’s worst year from a fantasy football standpoint. He had a career-low 9.2 fantasy points per game average as he split time between the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams.

He averaged 5.7 targets and 6.9 fantasy points per game in the six games with the Browns last season. However, Beckham rebounded in Los Angeles. After scoring only 3.8 fantasy points in his Rams debut, Beckham averaged 1.9 fantasy points per target and 12 fantasy points per game the rest of the season. Furthermore, OBJ scored three touchdowns in his first four games with the Rams after scoring only three in six games with the Browns.

Is Odell Beckham Jr. Worth Drafting In 2022 Fantasy Football?

Until he signs with a team, Beckham shouldn’t be on your draft board. Furthermore, fantasy players shouldn’t be optimistic that Beckham plays much, if at all, this season. Typically, it takes eight to 12 months to recover from a torn ACL.

Since he suffered the injury in February, the earliest fantasy players should expect OBJ back on the field is in October. However, since this is the second time Beckham has torn the ACL in his left knee, the veteran receiver might take longer than usual to heal.

Beckham has been linked to several teams over the past few months. However, the Buffalo Bills and Rams are the two most likely destinations. Unfortunately, even if he returns to the field during the regular season, OBJ will likely be limited as he shakes off the rust from the torn ACL. Sadly, Beckham has no fantasy value for the 2022 season.
