Is Robert Woods Injured Or Will He Be Ready for Week 1? 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

When Robert Woods was traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Tennessee Titans in March, the idea of pairing him with A.J. Brown was interesting to say the least.

Not only would he bring a veteran presence to the offense, but he could also take some pressure off Brown against opposing defenses. Then the Titans traded Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles on draft night. Immediately, Woods went from the number two option to the number one option, and everything changed.

He will now be counted on to mentor Treylon Burks while also returning from a mid-season ACL injury he suffered last season during the Rams Super Bowl run.

Robert Woods' Fantasy Football Prospects

In nine games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Woods had 45 receptions for 556 yards and four TD. He did this despite Cooper Kupp being on an historic pace of his own in the offense led by Matthew Stafford. In Tennessee, the expectations will be different with Ryan Tannehill at the helm and Derrick Henry gaining most of the work.

This is a run-first team and no one will ever doubt that. On top of this, breaking in new receivers like Burks and fellow rookie Kyle Philips will lead to more reliance on the run game. Woods has been practicing and looks like he will be back for Week 1 against the New York Giants. With a so-so defense in New York, this could be a great chance to see what Woods can do in the offense. He will be the first option in the pass game and if he comes out strong, a solid season could be in store for him in the low flying offense. If Tannehill is unable to find a connection with him in this game, this might be a long season for Woods, Tannehill, and Titans fans alike.

Should You Draft Robert Woods In Fantasy Football?

The real question about Woods is: where can you get him in your fantasy draft? If he is forgotten about and you can get him low enough, he would make a wonderful stash who can be more than a fill-in for a contending team. If he is still going to high in drafts, he will be more of a team anchor. Weighing a team down who could have taken someone with more upside surrounding him. Someone like Elijah Moore of the New York Jets.

Currently, Robert Woods is the WR 38 for fantasy. With a draft price of 8.07, the risk is worth the price. At worst with this price, you get a flex play and a possible WR 3. At best, Woods will be able to get back to his 90-reception form and you can count on him as a weekly top-20 receiver. Getting this level of production in the eighth round could be one of those plays to win your league. He and more specifically the Tennessee Titans are not a certainty in 2022. So, tread lightly my friend.
