J.D. Martinez remained hot, while hitting for power, when he hit another home run during the Tiger’s loss on Thursday to the Chicago Sox in extra innings.
The 27-year-old leftfielder went 1-for-5 with a two-run dinger. It was a slugfest during Thursday’s 8-7 loss for Detroit, but Martinez continued his power-hitting streak.
Martinez has five homers in the last four games. Three of those home runs came of the New York Yankees on Sunday. The slugger has eight homers in his last 11 games and nine in the month of June alone.
He has 18 HR on the season to go along with 45 RBI. His batting line is at .270/.329/.522. In his fifth MLB season, he could well be on his way to an all-star appearance at this rate.
Last year was his first season with the Detroit Tigers. He had a .315 BA, .912 OPS, 23 HR and 76 RBI. Martinez might have found his home in Detroit.
