BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues, AL-Only Leagues
ANALYSIS: J.D. Martinez has been absolutely mashing recently, making him the most recent addition to RotoBaller's list of potential sleepers for your fantasy baseball teams. Looking to catch lightning in a bottle off the waiver wire for your outfield production? Well this may just be your guy. So who is J.D. Martinez? Once a promising prospect for the Houston Astros, Martinez is now tearing it up for the Tigers. The biggest downside right now is that he's not currently slated to be an every day player long-term in Detroit, but with his home run yesterday, he now has a bomb in 3 of the last 4 games. He's also on a 9 game hitting streak, and coming into yesterday was batting .292/.370/.917 (1.287 OPS). After yesterday's game, he now has 6 HR, 22 RBI, 12 Runs and 2 SB in 100 ABs. If he keeps hitting like this, Detroit will have to find a way to keep his bat in the lineup. Prior to getting called up, Martinez was tearing up the minors with a .308/.366/.846 (1.212 OPS) stat line with 10 HR and 22 RBI in just 65 ABs, so it's not like this is coming out of nowhere. Grab him off the waiver wire if you can, and hope that this hot streak can continue. Martinez is only 4% owned in Yahoo leagues, so he's still widely available.
