The Baltimore Orioles activated J.J. Hardy from the 15-day DL on Tuesday, according to the Orioles Twitter account.
A groin injury forced the Baltimore shortstop to miss some times. Fortunately for Hardy, he did not miss more than the minimum 15 days.
The Orioles have reinstated INF J.J. Hardy from the 15-day disabled list and recalled OF Dariel Alvarez from Class A-Advanced Frederick.

Unfortunately for Hardy, he returns to an Orioles team that has completely falling out of the race for the postseason after being in the thick of things throughout the entire season. They currently are tied for last place with the Boston Red Sox in the AL East while being 7 1/2 games out of the second Wild Card spot. Only two teams have a worse record in the AL than Baltimore.
The three-time Gold Glove winner and two-time All-Star is having the worst season of his 11-year career, mostly due to a variety of injuries. Hardy has a .222 BA with 7 HR and 32 RBI. Hardy is signed through 2018, which means he’ll likely see most of the action down the final stretch of the season.
Dariel Alvarez has been sent back down to Class-A-Advanced Frederick.
