BALLER MOVE: Add in Very Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Jacob deGrom is killing the ball to the tune of a .455 AVG, emerging himself as one of the best hitters in the Mets' lineup. Unfortunately, in fantasy baseball, those stats don't count for a pitcher. The 25-year-old righty has been an effective pitcher, as well, contrary to the impression created by his 0-3 record. deGrom has been relatively consistent since making his major league debut May 15, with four QS in six GS. Only in his most recent start vs. MIL did he surrender more than five hits, and he has gone at least five innings in every outing to date. In the pitcher's haven that is Citi Field, he owns a 2.49 ERA, but has a less-than-impressive 5.56 ERA in two starts away from home. He definitely needs to improve his command, as his 2.00 K/BB ratio is insufficient, to say the least, but he has shown potential. deGrom is worthy of an add in deep leagues where owners can afford to start him only at home, at least until he shows improvement on the road. Be wary for now, though, as he faces two tough road tests in St. Louis and Miami in the coming week.
