ANALYSIS: The Washington Commanders appear to have a passing game this season.
After ranking 21st in the NFL in passing yards last season, the Commanders opened Week 1 with 305 passing yards, the fourth-best mark in the league.
Having Carson Wentz under center has provided an immediate boost to this offense, and that boost is being felt with the team's skill position players. Notably, rookie wide receiver Jahan Dotson was a key piece in Sunday's win over Jacksonville. In his NFL debut, Dotson was targeted five times, catching three passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
Fantasy managers in shallower leagues don't need to go after Dotson on the waiver wire considering he was fourth on the team in targets on Sunday, but in 12-team or deeper leagues, he's worth adding to see if either a) his role increases or b) Wentz continues to look his way when the Commanders need to score points. There's WR3/4 upside with Dotson, but there's also a chance that Week 1 was just a fluke.
