In the third quarter versus the Chicago Bears, Jamaal Charles went down quickly on a non-contact carry. Shortly thereafter he was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Early prognosis has ruled that Charles has a torn right ACL, and is scheduled for an MRI Monday to confirm. If the MRI does validate the same prognosis, it is likely that Charles will be done for the season. Regardless if that is the diagnosis, it's very clear that Charles will be missing time. Looking at the Chiefs depth chart the, next two men up are Knile Davis and Charcandrick West. So the question is, who will get the most carries?
After Charles went down to injury West got the primary touches (seven carries for 31 yards), but he only has 12 carries of experience under his belt. Knile Davis has more experience but last season he ranked 39th out of 46 players in average yards per carry (3.5 yards/carry). Even without experience, West seems to have surpassed Davis and is a must add on the waiver wire this week.
Looking at the upcoming schedule, the Chief's have the Vikings (17th most fantasy to opposing RB), Steelers (3rd fewest) and Lions (8th fewest). These matchup's don't look very appealing, but the Chiefs offense revolves around their RBs (12th most rushing attempts). If you are Charles owner start making plans to find a replacement now because his outlook isn't looking great. A nice start would be targeting West on the waiver wire.
