Jamaal Williams (RB, GB) - Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Williams' 2020 season has been a rollercoaster of performances. Rounding the numbers, he's scored 8-8-3-18-3 PPR points in the five games he's played, showing all of a near-zero floor, RB1 ceiling, and also a couple of average-FLEX-games. Considering Green Bay drafted A.J. Dillon with a second-round pick in the last draft, though, those performances can be considered a win for Williams.

Williams' upside will always be low given the presence of Aaron Jones in the backfield. That won't change unless Jones misses time or QB Aaron Rodgers uses him heavily on the passing game (as it happened in Week 4 when Williams exploded for 18.5 PPR points). For some reason, Rodgers forgot about Williams once more last Sunday (sure, Davante Adams was back, but still).

Since the start of last season, in games, Williams is targeted 4+ times he averages 14.9 PPR points, compared to 6.2 in those he's thrown three or fewer passes. His production is there, but it depends entirely on how Green Bay uses him weekly.

I believe Williams is more of an 10-ish PPR player than a zero-floor, RB1-ceiling one on average, so I think he's a good addition to any deeper league squad. Forget about making him your RB2 or even FLEX play weekly, but if the matchup and game script look good you should definitely consider deploying him. That will happen the next two weeks, as GB faces the 26th and 19th defenses against RBs, making Williams an appealing asset to have rostered.
