The 31-year-old has appealed the suspension, which means he will play in Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins. Loney has been struggling of late so a game off could potentially do him good. Overall, this year has been an all right for the 10-year veteran. In 71 games, Loney owns a .260 BA with 4 HR and 24 RBI.
The Rays are 2 1/2 games back for the second Wild Card spot in the AL but they have to jump four teams to grab the postseason spot. A recent 4-6 skid has dropped them seven games behind the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays for first place in the AL East.
