BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It is hard to find No. 1-depth chart position players available on such a rate like James O'Shaughnessy's (less than 1% ownership!). There were some concerns about who'd be targeted in Jacksonville's offense regarding the tight end position to start the season. O'Shaughnessy and Geoff Swaim saw 48 and 29 snaps in Week 1, 44 and 35 in Week 2, and finally 42 and 21 in Week 3. It looks clear who's the leading player at the position now after three weeks of action.
O'Shaughnessy is owned in just 1% of leagues for a reason. He's probably not a weekly TE1, but he surely has the potential to finish every game with high-end TE2 value with upside for low-end TE1 performances here and there. For the first three weeks of the season, O'Shaughnessy has scored 7.2, 6.8, and 9.8 PPR. That yields an average of 7.9 PPR points per game, with a weekly standard deviation of 1.3 PPR in terms of his production. Again, O'Shaughnessy might not win you a week, but you know you're getting some solid floor in him if you're streaming the position.
In three games so far, O'Shaughnessy has been targeted 12 times and has caught 10 passes for one touchdown. He has a total of 78 yards and has been targeted two times in the red zone. Jacksonville has not faced any great defense against tight ends yet, and both the Broncos and Panthers are on schedule next for them while boasting below-average units against TEs.
In deep leagues and those with extra value for tight end production O'Shaughnessy is a serious player to consider adding for free. He won't get much attention but he offers one of the most under-the-radar solid floors at the position.
