BALLER MOVE: Handcuff to Eddie Lacy in Deep Leagues
OWNED IN: 48% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: The debate over starting running backs in Green Bay appears to finally be over. Barely. Two weeks ago, fantasy owners of Eddie Lacy were furious with his limited play against the San Diego Chargers, out-carried and out-performed by James Starks, not that they're exactly ecstatic now. In a nightmarish ping-pong match all season, deciding who to start, a healthy Lacy appears to have finally reclaimed the starting job over Starks, even if it was always his to begin with. Lacy did not out-rush Starks by much, but it was Lacy who found the end zone against the Denver Broncos.
However, fantasy owners of Lacy would be wise to pick up or keep Starks. Not to start, but in case of injuries and another unexpected decision from coach Mike McCarthy to go with the hot hand. Lacy only has 3 more rushing yards than Starks on the season, while Starks has 3 more receptions than Lacy, a stat to keep an eye on in PPR leagues. They both have a measly two touchdowns.
Regardless of how close their stats are, it is safe to say the Packers will rely more on Lacy moving forward. It will be difficult to start Starks in any league, but he can prove to be valuable as the season progresses, pending Lacy's future performances. If Starks isn't a nuisance on your bench, let him take up the space.
