BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 39% of leagues
ANALYSIS: One second you're chugging along with the low-stress Pirates as one of the game's top emerging arms, and next thing you know, it's been nearly two years since you've pitched an MLB game and you're working through the fickle frustrations of returning from long-term injury as a high-stress New York Yankee. Here we have Jameson Taillon, 29-year-old former mega prospect, attempting to navigate the hitter-friendly boundaries of the Bronx, having made only 82 starts across his four previous MLB campaigns. In 42.2 IP over nine starts, Taillon is 1-3 with a 5.06 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and an encouraging 4.51 FIP that likely manifested from his excellent strikeout and walk rates of 27.9% and 6.7% respectively, yet his considerably below-average HR rate of 5.0%.

Read More! The 6'5 specimen has pitched significantly better in May than he did in April, and has surprisingly been much better at home than on the road with a 2.42 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 26.0 IP across five starts. Relying on his four-seamer way more this year while maintaining his slider/curve usage and reducing changeup/sinker frequency appears wise. The peripherals suggest overachievement on the slider, and opponents were connecting for average on pitches three through five and for power on the rest. Jameson Taillon is allowing a lot of barrels jackhammering baseballs out of AL East venues, but the XBA and XSLG on every pitch besides his slider indicates that damage by opposing batters is due for decline. He's gradually getting back to his top form, he's on fire when taking his home mound, and he always offers the damage control of minimal walks with the upside of voluminous Ks. It may take patience and monitoring, but Jameson Taillon is a project worth taking on in moderate-sized leagues.
