BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 46% of leagues
ANALYSIS: It's not every day that we recommend adding a pitcher with a 5.24 ERA in all formats, but Jameson Taillon has been better than that mark would suggest. In his debut season with the Yankees following the second Tommy John surgery of his career, the former second overall pick has punched out 29 batters in 22 innings of work while walking only five. That bodes well for him moving forward.
Command is usually the last thing to return for a pitcher coming off TJ, and the five home runs Taillon has allowed make it clear that he's still finding his. Typically a ground ball heavy pitcher, he has been yielding significantly more fly balls than usual (53.3% versus his 30.1% career rate). Despite that, his ERA estimators (2.91 xERA, 3.21 SIERA) show that better days are ahead, and as the season progresses he should do a better job of keeping the ball down.
