BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~120 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~141
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff finished the 2019 season as the QB13 in fantasy leagues, throwing for 4,638 yards and 22 touchdowns to go along with 16 interceptions. It marked the first season where he didn’t finish as a top-12 quarterback in fantasy since he became a full-time starter back in 2017. Goff tossed the fewest touchdowns since that year despite throwing the ball more times (626) than he had during any other season as a full-time starter.
When the Rams needed to win at the end of the 2019 season to make the playoffs, Sean McVay put faith in Goff’s arm. From Weeks 13-17, Goff attempted 216 passes (43.2 per game) for 1,648 yards and 11 touchdowns to four interceptions. Passing the ball 40 times per game isn’t ideal for Goff, but it shows the Rams aren’t afraid to let him sling it if they need him. And it is not that Goff hasn't carried LA to the SuperBowl just a little over a year ago.
In the 2020 offseason, the Rams cut running back Todd Gurley II and traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks, replacing them in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft with rookies Cam Akers and Van Jefferson. Despite those losses, the Rams return their top three receivers in Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and Tyler Higbee. The Rams offense shouldn't skip a beat, that is what that means.
Goff is getting off draft boards as the QB16 these days while he projects (per PFF) to finish the season with the 12th-most points among quarterbacks (273.4). If that's not a value, you tell me what it is. Goof is expected to finish the year as a QB1 already and comes with upside for even more. His line for 2020 should read somewhat close to 4,250/370/25/10 with a few rushing touchdowns sprinkled in. Draft Goff a little bit earlier than his ADP tells because he'll be well worth it.
