BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 43% of Fleaflicker Leagues
EXPERT ANALYSIS: High expectations have been part of Javier Baez's story since coming up to the big leagues. A top prospect who tore through the minor league system, Baez put up 37 HR in 2013 between A and AA ball, then hit 23 the next year at AAA before debuting with the Cubs. Since then, it's been a bit of a struggle for Baez, who has struggled to find his groove in the bigs. At least until now, that is.
Baez has settled in to some more consistent playing time this year, and the result has been a nice offensive season for the young star. Baez is slashing .277/.315/.760 with 11 HR and 9 SB in 285 AB for Chicago with 42 RBI and 34 R in a utility role. It's unclear where Baez fits long term with the Cubs -- he's making a case for an everyday role next year, but currently has All-Star players in front of him at all three of his positions. Despite that fact, he's seeing action in most games and is capitalizing, especially against lefties (.337 with 4 HR). His multiple position eligibility makes him a solid pickup in deeper leagues and definitely a player to watch going forward.
