The Toronto Blue Jays are planning to exercise the club’s $12 million option on R.A. Dickey for next season.
If the Jays do decide to exercise the option, it would be the veteran right-hander's final year of his deal. Dickey had a solid season in his third year in Toronto. He’s not going to be at the top of the rotation, but more like a solid back-of-the-line starting pitcher.
AA says RA Dickey has put himself in good position to have his option picked up.

The 40-year-old had an 11-11 record with a 3.91 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 126/61 K/BB ratio in 214 1/3 regular-season innings for Toronto. The knuckleballer made two postseason starts. Like his regular season, one start was good and the other was bad. In his first ever postseason start, Dickey allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings pitched. In his second start, he failed to get out of the second inning after allowing five runs on five hits and two walks.
Dickey’s age doesn’t matter in this case because he’s predominately a knuckleballer although it could be the last year of his last big contract in the league.
