Jayson Werth will join Triple-A Syracuse on Monday as part of his rehab assignment, according to The Washington Post.
It’s been a long road to recovery for Werth as the Washington Nationals outfielder continues to battle back from two small fractures in his left wrist that he suffered back in May. The 36-year-old was originally slated to return in August but it appears he’ll be with the main roster before then.
Jayson Werth officially joins Class AAA Syracuse today to continue his rehab, as @JamesWagnerWP reported last week.

Werth started his rehab assignment with High-A Potomac. In seven at-bats, he had two hits. It’s not necessarily about his production but rather about how his wrist reacts to swinging and playing the field.
In only 27 games this season, Werth sports a low .202 BA with 2 HR and 12 RBI. When healthy, he has produced. Throughout his 13-year career, Werth averages 23 HR, 83 RBI and a .274 BA.
When he rejoins the Nationals, it will be a huge pickup down the final stretch of the season. Washington is in the midst of a tight race for first place in the NL East. With the New York Mets only two games back, the Nationals could use the help from Werth.
