Jedd Gyorko (1B/2B/3B, STL) - Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 12% of leagues

ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jedd Gyorko slumped hard in June, but he has slashed .324/.444/.622 since the calendar flipped to July. He has four multi-hit games already this month, and has walked more often than he is struck out.

While he’s pacing toward his lowest power output since 2014, Gyorko entered this season having averaged 25 HR/600 PA for his career. It would not be a surprise to see him pop balls over the fence more often going forward, as he has seen his HR/FB rate drop from 15.5% to 10.8% YoY. This also comes with a bump in fly ball rate and hard hit ball rate (from 30.8% to 40.4%), so it is likely that he sees his home run tally inch closer to 20-25 from the seven he has right now.

Gyorko also has positional flexibility that makes him interesting in deep and NL-only formats and he is basically unowned. A slugger with eligibility in at most infield positions is very attractive, so pick him up quickly.
