BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

Jeff Green has been somewhat of a fantasy basketball enigma in his eight NBA seasons. Since he was famously the 5th overall pick back in 2007 and later traded from Boston to Seattle in the Ray Allen deal, fantasy owners have been waiting for everything to “click” for the swingman. Both his NBA and fantasy production seemed to be dwindling at the start of the 2015-2016 season, but he has recently experienced a surge in usage and production.
When you look at Green’s career numbers, he has never stood out in one particular category: 14.1 ppg/4.9 rpg/1.7 apg/0.8 spg/0.6 bpg/1.0 3PM – solid but also somewhat unspectacular for a top-five draft pick. As far as the first three months of this season, Green struggled to find consistent minutes and production with the Grizzlies. That all began to change starting with a mid-January win vs. Detroit when his season took a positive turn statistically. In eight games since, Green has averaged an impressive 20 ppg/4.1 rpg/1.5 3PM while playing right around 28 minutes per contest as the Grizzlies sure-fire sixth man. Last week was Green’s strongest week of the year, scoring over 20 points in each of his three games while shooting well over 60% from the floor.
Bottom Line: After eight NBA seasons, we know what Green is. It’s hard to imagine him being able to sustain a 20 ppg scoring clip on 60% shooting for much longer. However, his talent and now secured role warrant a consideration towards the bottom of your roster. Even if (when?) Green’s production comes back to the median, his solid production across the board should be sustained. Bear with the Grizzlies odd schedule this week (Mon/Fri/Sat), and view Green as a player able to help in multiple categories. His ownership level likely won’t stay below 50% for much longer.
