ANALYSIS: The Jets are cooked. The Jets are cooked so bad. They are nothing but guaranteed a bottom-three finish this season and a top-three pick in the 2021 draft. And if that wasn't bad enough, they are losing players by the day, having to rely on third-, fourth-, and fifth-string players these days. Rookie WR Lawrence Cager left TNF injured, Breshad Perriman was inactive, Denzel Mims is on the IR, and Le'Veon Bell couldn't still play last week.
Someone had to do something, and Smith was the man to keep New York afloat on Thursday night. Smith made his official NFL debut and he looked quite nicely. He was trusted, receiving 9 targets of which he hauled in 7 for 81 yards and an average 11.6 Y/R. He couldn't get inside the paint carrying the ball, but neither could any other Jet including WR1 Jamison Crowder...
No player was on the field for more snaps than Smith, who played every single one of them at 73. I don't think anybody has any clue what the Jets will do ROS, but they'd do good in trying to know more about the young players in their roster. If that's the case, Smith should keep a high-usage and volume going his way weekly.
The matchup against Arizona in W5 doesn't look good (the Cards rank 2nd in points allowed to fantasy WR) but if you can afford to stash Smith for a week he might pay back in due time at least as a FLEX in deeper leagues.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues ANALYSIS: As a 2017 fifth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Boise State, it was a very slow start to the professional career of running back Jeremy McNichols, taking just two carries for four yards with no targets in the passing game... BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED: 2% of Leagues ANALYSIS: Melvin Gordon is currently dealing with strep-throat (could be worse) and potential discipline from his recent DUI arrest, and while he could return this week, that remains up in the air, which leaves a window of opportunity open for Royce Freeman to build...
