ANALYSIS: Jeremy Lin is not going to start for the Charlotte Hornets without an injury to Kemba Walker, but the one-time media phenomenon is giving his team quality minutes off the bench. Lin scored a season-high 35 points on 13-22 shooting in 47 minutes in Thursday's win over the Toronto Raptors. He also added five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. While this increase in minutes came as a result of Nicolas Batum missing the game due to illness, but perhaps Lin's strong performance will allow him to see more court action. He is quite unlikely to reproduce this kind of dominant performance, but now that he has shown head coach Steve Clifford that he is still capable of taking over a game, Lin may be trusted to play more minutes down the stretch.
Lin is shooting 47% from the floor for 13.1 points per game in the month of December. He has also improved on his rebounds, assists, blocks and steals, and cut back on his turnovers. Logically, there is a direct relationship between production and playing time, so the more Lin impresses, the more opportunities he will receive.
