Jesse Chavez pitched an eight-inning gem for the Oakland A’s as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 on Wednesday.
The only runs came off a two-run homer by Jimmy Rollins. Other than that, Chavez only allowed one other hit during his dominant performance of the first place team in the NL East. The 31-year-old struck out six and walked two batters
The A’s were able to grab the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run inning. They added two more runs before Drew Pomeranz came in for the three-out save.
Chavez lowered his ERA to 3.75 and now owns a 7-12 record. It’s been an up and down season for the right-hander. He allowed four runs in his last start but only one in the start prior. Before that, he allowed six runs but then three before that. It’s been that kind of season for him. Chavez will face the Seattle Mariners for his next start.
