BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting
ANALYSIS: Jimmy Nelson was supposed to be the next big pitching call-up this year. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell Jimmy Nelson that. In his most recent start following his call-up, Nelson was hammered for 6 runs in 4 1/2 innings of work. It's hard to know if that's indicative of what Nelson can do, because a lot of rookies struggle in their first start. Before he was brought to the big show, Nelson was pitching to a 1.46 ERA, 9.90 K/9, 2.59 BB/9, and a minuscule 0.24 HR/9 which is what earned him the call-up in the first place. Nelson has some major strikeout potential, and he'll benefit from being in the NL, but he could be up and down between the minors and majors this year. I'd be more interested in Nelson in future years than I am this year. While I love the potential, he's not quite all together yet. He's worth a stash in dynasty leagues, but otherwise I think he's someone to keep monitoring at the moment.
