ANALYSIS: We can all agree that Joe Musgrove's last start against the Orioles was pretty rough, but that shouldn't distract from the fact that he has had a great start to his MLB career and he was downright dominant in the minors since 2011. Across three levels and 100.2 IP in 2015 he had a 1.88 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 8.9 K/9, and a super controlled 0.7 BB/9. In 2016 Musgrove has thrown 85.1 innings in Double-A and Triple-A and held a 2.74 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 9.2 K/9, and another very impressive BB/9 of 1.1. Before his recent shelling against Baltimore, Musgrove was rolling. In those 18.1 IP he had a 1.47 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, 10.3 K/9, 0.49 HR/9, and just 0.98 BB/9. Of those three appearances, two were starts and in those outings Musgrove averaged an impressive seven IP per start and his one relief appearance was a lengthy one at 4.1 IP. He has a tested career of limiting HR, producing whiffs, and has crazy good command of the strike zone. Besides his one bad start, he had continued that exact trend for Houston and has shown he has the durability to go deep into games. Trust Joe Musgrove's track record from the minors as the season's end draws near.
