BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues, Monitor in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 9% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: Joey Gallo has shown his ridiculous power in every level of the minor leagues. He has been the definition of a three-true-outcome hitter in the majors, with a career 48.8% strikeout rate, 13.4% walk rate, and a .195 ISO.
This season he has been filling in at third base for the injured Adrian Beltre, and he seems to have made some improvements in his approach early on. He got his first major league hit after being down 0-2 in the count on Sunday, and it led to a huge five-RBI day thanks to his second HR of the season. He is hitting .200/.304/.500 so far with two HR and seven RBI, and his strikeout rate is down to 39.1%. Not great, but certainly an improvement for someone who struck out 63.3% of the time over 17 games last season.
When Beltre returns, the Rangers will need to find a way to keep getting Gallo at bats. He certainty won't help fantasy owners from an average standpoint, but those looking for some cheap power should take a flyer on him if he finds a home in the outfield or first base.
