BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 33% of leagues
ANALYSIS: After only taking 17 AB in April, Johan Camargo has yet to finish a month with an OPS south of .733 or a HR total less than three. Now, over his last 95 AB in 25 games, he has produced four dingers and a slash of .295/.330/.505. The interesting thing is that, despite his consistent offense, he has sported some inconsistent peripherals. His strikeout rate has been anywhere from 13.1% to 25.6%, and his walk rate has deviated from 7% to 19.2%. His power has waned a bit lately, as his hard contact rate has fallen to 30.6% with 20.4% soft contact in August. This combined with a high GB/FB ratio of 1.44 (he has ranged from 1.20 to 1.72 over the season) has helped to net his lowest monthly ISO of the year at .148.
Camargo is producing another high number: his BABIP, which has ranged from .308 to .354 from June through August. While this usually indicates a level of luck to a player's offensive outputs, the production he has managed at the plate from this figure could well be sustainable. He produces a high rate of line drives (20.4% for August) and he has a 58.7% hard contact rate on these liners with a measly 2.2% soft contact, while he applies his second-best hard contact rate (32.6%) to fly balls. This seems to support the fact that he can continue to produce on offense at this level despite the high BABIP. With his spot cemented at third base for the rest of the year and the contending Braves offense occupying the MLB upper-echelon, that holds plenty of value in the last month and a half of the regular season.
